Trail Overview
The Spring Lake trail begins at the paved Mount Magazine scenic route, descending from the hilltop, where established state park camping facilities are available. Alternatively, one compact vehicle may camp at the Greenfield State Park picnic area after obtaining permission and paying reduced camping fees at the visitors center. The trail itself is a long, maintained path characterized by winding turns, bumpy stretches, and rocky terrain, serving as a main artery through the park. Several offshoot trails suitable for ATV or 4WD exploration branch out, featuring small river crossings and a notable bridge. The eastern side of the road runs through farmland, but the road does become corrugated. Scenic forest views and dispersed campsites await adventurers, though amenities are sparse and cell service is limited.
