Trail Overview
Cinnamon Pass, Wager Gulch
Enjoy this section of the famous Alpine Loop, which can be combined with Engineer Pass. Take Wager Gulch up to Carson Ghost Town, and take Cinnamon Pass Road up to American Basin for wildflowers. Staging is available on the western side across from Eureka Campground. Staging area options on east side. Open all year, except for weather closures.
The town of Carson, on Wager Gulch Trail, was established in 1882 with an operating post office between 1889 and 1903. The town served the St. Jacobs Mine and others in the area, which produced gold, silver, lead, copper and zinc. The few buildings that remain are only a tiny part of the town that, at one time, was large enough to straddle the Continental Divide.
