Trail Overview
Pinyon Mountain Valley
Hiking and side trails are available along this long crossing in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. As the main trail curves left, you can follow a narrower wash to the left to access Broken Shaft Gulch and get to the bottom of Diablo Dropoff.
Getting There
From Scissors Crossing on Highway 78 between Julian and Ocotillo Wells, take Highway S2 south 4.4 miles. Turn left on sandy road in bushes immediately after large sign that says: Welcome to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Sign for trail says Pinyon Mountain Area (hidden in bushes).
