Trail Overview
Pilot Rock Road
This is a primitive route that takes you through a thick forest and along a high ridge. There is a portion of the trail where you can choose to offshoot to a more challenging route. This area is open to green-sticker vehicles.
History
The dam at Silverwood Lake, aka Cedar Springs Dam, was built in 1971. In the early part of the 1900s, about 100 farming families lived in the small town of Cedar Springs, which would now be located at the bottom of the lake, had it not been razed before the lake was filled.
Getting There
Take Highway 138 east about 16 miles from Interstate 15 at Cajon Junction. Turn left on a small paved road at a sign for Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area/Miller Canyon. Go north about 400 feet to Forest Road 2N37 on right. If you've driven Cleghorn Ridge, Trail #65, first, turn right on 138 and go 5.8 miles.
