Trail Overview
Lost Coast Beach
This is a really great place to take your time checking out everything it offers. Stroll, camp and unwind in this destination that feels like it's all yours. Sinkyone Wilderness State Park is a great place to visit and possibly see wildlife along the way. Humboldt Redwoods State Park is also nearby, home of somet of the biggest redwoods in the state.
History
Usal Beach was once a loading point for redwood lumber, which was transported by water to the point of sale. As this business faded away in the 1930s, the area became known as the “Lost Coast.” All vestiges of lumber production have long ago been destroyed by fire.
Getting There
Take Highway 101 north past the tiny town of Leggett where Highway 1 intersects. Turn left on Highway 1 and go southwest 14.7 miles to Mendocino County Road 431 on the right. This turn is near mile marker 90.88.
