The Upper Green River area regulates hunting opportunities for waterfowl in Wyoming and covers 4,183 square miles. Public lands comprise 3,059 square miles (74%) of the total land covered by this hunt area. The greater region is best serviced by Big Sandy. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 6,100 feet to a high of 13,600 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 89 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This area contains 14 campgrounds, and 37 public fishing access sites. There are 9 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Bridger National Forest, Teton National Forest, Bridger Wilderness, Fitzpatrick Wilderness, Gros Ventre Wilderness, Popo Agie Wilderness. Additionally, 11 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
