Area 15 regulates hunting opportunities for mountain lion in Wyoming and covers 2,824 square miles. Public lands comprise 1,234 square miles (44%) of the total land covered by this hunt area. The greater region is best serviced by Buffalo, Bar Nunn, and Barnum. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 4,100 feet to a high of 12,200 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 280 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This area is a gateway to these forested areas: Bighorn National Forest. Additionally, 32 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
