Area 21 regulates hunting opportunities for moose in Wyoming and covers 300 square miles. Public lands comprise 274 square miles (92%) of the total land covered by this hunt area. The greater region is best serviced by Jackson, Hoback Junction, and Rafter J Ranch. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 5,800 feet to a high of 11,400 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 18,889 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. There are 3 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Teton National Forest, Gros Ventre Wilderness. Additionally, 1 site is open to the public for access to managed private lands.
