Unit Sauk regulates hunting opportunities for wildlife in Washington and covers 883 square miles. Public lands comprise 386 square miles (44%) of the total land covered by this hunt unit. The greater region is best serviced by Sedro-Woolley, Darrington, and Concrete. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 100 feet to a high of 8,200 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 60 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This area contains 10 campgrounds, and 3 public fishing access sites. There are 15 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Mount Baker National Forest, Glacier Peak Wilderness, Noisy-Diobsud Wilderness, Stephen Mather Wilderness.
