The Box Elder West unit regulates hunting opportunities for pronghorn in Utah and covers 2,311 square miles. Public lands comprise 1,172 square miles (51%) of the total land covered by this wildlife management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Wendover, and Lynn. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 4,300 feet to a high of 9,800 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 12 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This unit is a gateway to these forested areas: Sawtooth National Forest. Additionally, 34 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
