Public lands comprise 334 square miles (35%) of the total land covered by this wildlife management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Park City, Coalville, and Kamas. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 5,400 feet to a high of 12,200 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 4,728 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. There are 9 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested areas: Uinta National Forest, Wasatch National Forest. Additionally, 14 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
