Unit 27A regulates hunting opportunities for antelope in South Dakota and covers 2,207 square miles. Public lands comprise 1,438 square miles (66%) of the total land covered by this hunt unit. The greater region is best serviced by Angostura Reservoir. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 2,900 feet to a high of 6,200 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 972 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. There are 5 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested areas: Black Hills National Forest.
