Public lands comprise 712 square miles (75%) of the total land covered by this wildlife management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Silver Lake, and Summer Lake. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 4,200 feet to a high of 8,000 feet above sea level. There are 6 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested areas: Fremont National Forest, Winema National Forest.
