The 54 MOUNT EMILY unit, wildlife management unit regulates hunting opportunities for wildlife in Oregon and covers 770 square miles. Public lands comprise 545 square miles (71%) of the total land covered by this wildlife management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Elgin, Athena, and Mission. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 1,200 feet to a high of 6,000 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 746 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. There are 1 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Umatilla National Forest, Whitman National Forest, North Fork Umatilla Wilderness.
