Unit 21B regulates hunting opportunities for big game in New Mexico and covers 2,550 square miles. Public lands comprise 1,250 square miles (50%) of the total land covered by this game management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Las Cruces, Deming, and Bosque Del Apache. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 3,900 feet to a high of 10,200 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 15 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This unit is a gateway to these forested areas: Gila National Forest. Additionally, 15 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
