Unit 262 regulates hunting opportunities for wildlife in Nevada and covers 2,142 square miles. Public lands comprise 1,935 square miles (91%) of the total land covered by this hunt unit. The greater region is best serviced by Lone Mtn. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 1,200 feet to a high of 11,800 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 496 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. There are 25 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Toiyabe National Forest, La Madre Mountains Wilderness Study Area, Mount Charleston Wilderness, Mount Stirling Wilderness Study Area, Nopah Range Wilderness, Pahrump Valley Wilderness, Pine Creek Wilderness Study Area.
