Unit 195 regulates hunting opportunities for wildlife in Nevada and covers 558 square miles. Public lands comprise 107 square miles (20%) of the total land covered by this hunt unit. The greater region is best serviced by Reno, Lockwood, and Mustang. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 4,200 feet to a high of 8,200 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 519 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This unit is a gateway to these forested areas: Toiyabe National Forest.
