District 130 regulates hunting opportunities for deer, elk, lion in Montana and covers 621 square miles. Public lands comprise 537 square miles (87%) of the total land covered by this hunt district. The greater region is best serviced by Salmon Prairie, Swan Lake, and Condon. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 3,100 feet to a high of 9,600 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 11 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. There are 18 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Flathead National Forest, Lolo National Forest, Bob Marshall Wilderness, Mission Mountains Wilderness.
