The greater region is best serviced by Marquette, Barbeau, and Bay Mills. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 300 feet to a high of 2,200 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 67 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This area contains 153 campgrounds, and 7 public fishing access sites.
