Unit 2 regulates hunting opportunities for elk in Kansas and covers 609 square miles. Public lands comprise 52 square miles (9%) of the total land covered by this wildlife management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Manhattan, Junction City, and Clay Center. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 1,000 feet to a high of 1,400 feet above sea level. This area contains 7 campgrounds, and 12 public fishing access sites. Additionally, 17 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
