Unit 6 regulates hunting opportunities for wildlife in Idaho and covers 1,053 square miles. Public lands comprise 433 square miles (42%) of the total land covered by this game management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Emida. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 2,200 feet to a high of 6,800 feet above sea level. This area contains 11 campgrounds, and 2 public fishing access sites. There are 11 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Coeur d'Alene National Forest, Saint Joe National Forest, Crystal Lake Wilderness Study Area, Grandmother Mountain Wilderness Study Area.
