Area 60A-1 regulates hunting opportunities for antelope in Idaho and covers 1,756 square miles. Public lands comprise 866 square miles (50%) of the total land covered by this game management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Plano, Rexburg, and Chester. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 4,800 feet to a high of 10,000 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 147 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This area contains 9 campgrounds, and 2 public fishing access sites. There are 5 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Beaverhead National Forest, Targhee National Forest, Centennial Mountains Wilderness Study Area, Sand Mountain Wilderness Study Area. Additionally, 2 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
