Area 55-1 regulates hunting opportunities for antelope in Idaho and covers 2,276 square miles. Public lands comprise 1,128 square miles (50%) of the total land covered by this game management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Burley, Rupert, and Neeley. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 4,200 feet to a high of 10,200 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 2,389 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This area contains 6 campgrounds, and 1 public fishing access sites. There are 11 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested areas: Sawtooth National Forest. Additionally, 46 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
