Unit C6 regulates hunting opportunities for deer in Florida and covers 5,859 square miles. Public lands comprise 439 square miles (8%) of the total land covered by this hunt zone. The greater region is best serviced by Arlington, Jacksonville, and Normandy. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 100 feet to a high of 200 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 87 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. There are 35 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Osceola National Forest, Big Gum Swamp Wilderness, Okefenokee Wilderness.
