Wildfires have burned nearly 684 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This area contains 3 campgrounds, and 1 public fishing access sites. There are 1 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Rio Grande National Forest, San Isabel National Forest, Black Canyon Wilderness Study Area, Great Sand Dunes Wilderness, Sand Castle Wilderness Study Area, Sangre de Cristo Wilderness.
