Unit S39 regulates hunting opportunities for bighorn sheep in Colorado and covers 617 square miles. Public lands comprise 253 square miles (42%) of the total land covered by this game management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Jefferson, Breckenridge, and Blue River. Wildfires have burned nearly 9 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife.
