Unit 18 regulates hunting opportunities for big game in Colorado and covers 646 square miles. Public lands comprise 570 square miles (89%) of the total land covered by this game management unit. The greater region is best serviced by Granby, Hot Sulphur Spring, and Grand Lake. Wildfires have burned nearly 7 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. This area contains 11 campgrounds, and 2 public fishing access sites. There are 26 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Arapaho National Forest, Roosevelt National Forest, Routt National Forest, Indian Peaks Wilderness, Neota Wilderness, Never Summer Wilderness, Troublesome Wilderness Study Area. Additionally, 6 sites are open to the public for access to managed private lands.
