Zone 2 regulates hunting opportunities for turkey in Arkansas and covers 5,120 square miles. Public lands comprise 1,841 square miles (36%) of the total land covered by this hunt zone. The greater region is best serviced by Fort Smith, Fayetteville, and Springdale. The elevation of the region ranges from a low of 200 feet to a high of 2,500 feet above sea level. Wildfires have burned nearly 7,797 acres here in the last two years, providing opportunities for new vegetation and attracting a variety of wildlife. There are 12 trailheads that provide public gateways to these forested and wilderness areas: Ozark National Forest, Buffalo National River (Ponca Unit) Wilderness, East Fork Wilderness, Hurricane Creek Wilderness, Richland Creek Wilderness, Upper Buffalo Wilderness.
