The route begins at the parking area off Slag Road in Keystone State Park. From the trailhead, head west on the multiuse trail and follow it south across the dam. On the far side, turn left on Stone Lodge Road. Just before the campground, turn right onto Stone Lodge Trail. Stay right at the next three junctions, then turn left to leave the old forest road and begin looping back toward Stone Lodge Road. Turn right and pass through the campground to reach Lakeside Trail. The trail traces the edge of the lake before merging with McCune Run Trail and crossing wetlands at the lake’s upper end. Turn right onto McClure Run Trail, then connect to Strawcutter Trail by making a left followed by a quick right. Continue on Strawcutter until it rejoins McClure Run Trail—turn right here and follow the trail west to Davis Run Trail. Another right leads back toward the lake, crossing Keystone Park Road and moving through the nearby parking area.
Pick up the multiuse trail again on the far side and follow it west to return to the starting point. This low-elevation route winds through hardwood forest, wetland crossings, and shoreline paths—offering chances to spot deer, herons, and turtles along the way. Beach access and fishing areas add recreational value, and the trail’s wide tread makes it suitable for snowshoeing in winter or relaxed hiking year-round.
