Description
Please keep in mind when getting to the trailhead that once you turn right towards Igo, the road is very eroded, and it'd be best to have a vehicle with some clearance or 4-wheel drive. I managed to make it there by carefully twisting and turning along the road in a Honda Civic, but it'd be safer to use a 4WD vehicle or a car with more clearance. Buck Hollow Trail is more of a connecting trail from one side of Muletown Rd to the other. There are a few rolling hills, and at one point you get a nice glimpse of Shasta-Bally. It's more popular for mountain bikers to pass through on their long rides throughout the park. It's not too shaded but not completely exposed, and erosion on the trail is really the only type of obstacle you'll run into here. This trail is a nice short hike and is fit for a completionist who wants to visit every trail in the Whiskeytown area.
