Point to Point
The Mugu Peak Trail begins as a diverging trail from the south end of the La Jolla Valley Loop Trail. From this point, the Mugu Peak Trail follows the ridge that sits above La Jolla Canyon before wrapping around the south face of Mugu Peak. Along this portion of the trail you'll come across the Mugu Peak Connector diverging to the right from the main trail. If you want to summit Mugu Peak you can veer off of the trail here. Return to the Mugu Peak Trail to make your way down. You'll hike along a series of switchbacks before hitting an intersection with the Chumash Trail. The Mugu Peak Trail ends here and you can link up with other trail along the Mugu Peak and La Jolla Valley Loop to extend your hike further.
