Hike up from the Silver Mine Lake Parking Area on the Menomine Trail and make a right on the Nawahunta Fire Road. Pick up the NY/NJ Long Path: Section 6 up to the summit of Stockbridge Mountain. Heading down the mountain, pick up the Menomine Trail again, this time on your left (east). Take that back down to the fire road and back to Silver Mine Lake.
Near the beginning of the hike, you'll pass through Lewis Cemetery with tombstones from the mid 1800's. Along the hike, you can see the Lewis Mine--it's easy to miss in summer and fall, but you can't miss it in winter.
