Description
From the Somersville parking area, the road starts a gradual ascent through an oak-studded valley getting steeper as it tops a ridge. Past a gate, it crosses the Ridge Trail then drops steeply into the Sand Creek valley and the Stewartville town site. It's a challenging ascent coming back up the ridge. Once past Stewartville, it's mostly flat as it follows Sand Creek all the way to the parking area on Frederickson Lane.
