Point to Point
The Saddle Rock Trail begins as a diverging trail from the McMenemy Trail. The Saddle Rock Trail splits off to the right from the McMenemy Trail roughly 1.5 miles along the McMenemy Trail if you were following it westward from the San Ysidro Trail. From here, the trail heads north and climbs steeply up the mountainside to a flat vista point. At this point you'll see that hikers have created a large heart out of small rocks from the area, thus making this vista point locally known as "Heart Flat".
From here, the trail briefly continues north, climbing slightly more uphill to reach the Edison Catway Road, at which point it ends. Although this trail is short, it offers up great views and gives you the opportunity to link up with other trails in the immediate area.
