Description
The short, crushed rock and green-blazed Summit Trail starts right from the parking lot at the end of the Mount Jefferson State Park paved road. There is a trail map and information board at the top of the parking lot and start of the trail system. Pass by the picnic pavilion on your left and picnic tables on both sides of the trail. At the first trail junction, stay to the left to ascend to the Mt. Jefferson summit. (Taking a right at this junction puts you on the Rhododendron Trail). At the top is a weather station and cell tower and overlook of the town of Jefferson. For more of a wilderness feel, descend back to the Rhododendron Trail and appreciate one of several overlooks.
