Description
There are three trailheads where one can begin: Running Horse Trailhead, North N Street Trailhead and South N Street (Prairie Creek Greenway) Trailhead. Begin at the Running Horse edition pool parking lot and hike east to the intersection with Running Horse Rd and you'll see the trail. Follow the trail, heading generally west for one mile behind a residential area turned thick forest until you reach the intersection with the southwest trailhead of Prairie Creek. This segment has a mile of seclusion and small culverts which create miniature waterfalls. Continue north for just over a mile until you reach a clearing that exposes more residential area and then continue east on the trail until you reach the crossing at Running Horse Rd. This segment has lots of bridges and opportunities to enjoy the rushing waters of the creek. Note: You may notice during this segment that there is westerly branch trail. That trail takes you to a small parking lot after a 1/4 mile - this is the north trailhead off of N Street. When you cross Running Horse Rd., head south for just over a mile until you reach the Running Horse housing area off to your right.
