Description
Tipperary Creek Trail is a steady ascent to descent connecting County Road 50 to County Road 73. The trail starts as a wide and, at times, rocky doubletrack heading fairly straight through a dense pine forest. You'll be roughly paralleling Tipperary Creek, and there may be some muddy sections in the early spring the further down you hike. Nothing that is impassible, but just be ready to do a little creative rock hopping. As you descend, the terrain changes from a dry and dusty pine forest to a more lush forest of aspens. The undergrowth gets greener, the aspens get larger, and the trail narrows to a beautiful singletrack that switchbacks through the large aspen groves. In the spring and fall, this section of the trail is particularly memorable. About two miles into the descent, the trail will cross the creek. The ford is shallow but pretty wide so you probably will get your feet wet unless the water level is low. Once you are across the creek, it is a short hike to the end of the trail at County Road 50.
