On this hike, you'll be treated to gorgeous views. However, the hike is quite a workout and definitely is a bit deceiving as far as difficultly goes. You're starting at the viewpoint and hiking down to sea level with direct sun/no shade and lots of wind coming off the water which can tire/dehydrate you faster than you think, so take note of that. Make sure you don't miss your turn back up towards the viewpoint as you'll be hiking back a ways. The trail features some steep gravel switchbacks as you make your way down into the crater and then again on your way back up. Follow the Ka'aha Trail on the way down before turning back inland on the Hilina Pali Trail.
