Point to Point
Starting on the South end of Comanche, you have two trailheads to pick from: the Mesquite campground parking (has a restroom) or the Park Road trailhead. Most people will hike from Comanche Trail Mid and finish with this section or will connect using another trail.
From Comanche Trail Mid, you turn left onto Rock Garden Trail for a short distance before turning right onto Comanche Trail South. It is a reprieve from the Mid trail with quite a bit of contour hiking and just a handful of short punchy climbs. Once you leave the Rock Garden Trail, Comanche takes on a different feel. It's all fun, but the south stretch is way more playful than the Mid. You'll notice that the ups are accompanied by longer downs and eventually you'll be starting the bottom of the canyon in the face on several exposed switchbacks.
From the Park road or Mesquite Campground, the trail has a nice gentle grade but don't let that fool you, it's about to go up. Straight up.
There are a few punchy climbs that give way to some incredible contour hiking and you'll be glad you stuck with this trail, and then you get to Rock Garden Trailhead up, down or continue onto Comanche Trail Mid. Take a left on Rock Garden Trail for a short way until you see the Comanche Trail sign.
