Loop
Relatively flat for the first half mile. At that point, the grade becomes progressively more steep for the next three-quarters of a mile. That might be a good time to have some water and look at the expansive views of the foothills to the south. At the top of the climb (at about 1,800 feet), head towards the singletrack trail by the radio tower. From there, it's downhill for a mile on a trail that is quite steep in sections.
Much easier to complete loop going counter-clockwise than the reverse.
