Description
The trail starts as a flat singletrack from the small parking lot on 117 but soon hits a discontinued dirt road and begins to climb. The trail is fairly wide but very rocky at this point and passes close to a private residence. At the top of the first incline, the trail crosses the front steps of an old hunting cabin and rolls through forest to a few side roads. The side road on the right that passes a boggy area is Hale Road. A little further, the side road on the left that is not chained off is the Limington Scenic Overlook Trail and an alternate route to Sawyer Mountain summit. Continuing straight, the trail passes a cemetery and the old trailhead where it once again climbs steeply up the old rocky road. At the high point of the trail, it meets the Sawyer Summit Trail. Continuing along Sawyer Mountain Road leads to the west side of the mountain, which is more of the same (steep and rocky) until it becomes a real road in a residential area and eventually ends at the parking lot for the Smith Trail.
