Wilkinson Memorial Trail

This trail runs to the northwest of Breakneck Ridge Trail, connecting before the Beacon Fire Tower, and then continues Northeast after the cross to North Highland. The trail is marked with yellow blazing. It's a gentle trail that summits Sugarloaf Mountain for a beautiful view of Bannerman Castle. Start at route 9D about 900 feet north of the Breakneck Ridge Trail trailhead. The trail starts as a gently sloping forest road that steepens into singletrack as you climb Sugarloaf Mountain. After the summit, with great west-facing views, the trail becomes a singletrack meander through the woods, gaining and losing elevation for about two miles until you climb to Scofield Ridge, reaching a viewpoint looking east above Lake Valhalla. The trail follows the ridge for about half a mile with intermittent views and then descends, sometimes steeply, to the bottom of the ridge. Pass a small forested lake, and then head to the trailhead on Reservoir Lane.
