The Inverness !Ridge Trail starts near the summit of Point Reyeys Hill (the second highest peak in the park at 1335 ft.) and ends at Limantour Road. The Inverness !Ridge Trail is wide and road-like with good views and only passes a few huge homes. Starting with a steep but steady descent, the trail loops back and forth along the ridge, undulating all the way. After a sharp hairpin turn, the trai levels and proceeds to march straightforwardly along the ridge line. Evidence of the 1995 Vision Fire includes charred stumps and vigorous, dense regrowth of Bishop pines. This forest will thin naturally over time as competition for light and moisture results in the death of most smaller trees.
After meeting the Drakes View trail you'll make your closest approach to the Inverness neighborhood, quickly followed by a short, steep, downhill pitch. Soon the Inverness Ridge Trail is back into wilderness, passing through meadows and scrub. Contour around a few more hillsides and end your trek at Limantour Road and the midsection of Bayview Trail.
Note: bikes are allowed on this trail.
