The Dearing Mountain Trail begins just off of Fryman Rd. and turns from pavement to dirt quickly after starting. While the trail climbs significantly to the west, you'll have amazing views of the San Fernando Valley on a clear day. After hiking for 1.1 miles, the trail will head southward and descend the hillside. 3/10 of a mile later, you'll arrive at the Magic Forest Trail, part of Coldwater Canyon Park.
Stay to the left to continue on the Dearing Mountain Trail as it begins to turn toward the east. 1/2 of a mile of descent later, you'll arrive at Iredell Lane. Hike across the cul-de-sac for about 150 ft. to join the southern portion of the Dearing Mountain Trail. The trail then continues to wind its way through the hills of Fryman Canyon Park for 2.7 miles until it comes to an end at a T-intersection with the Briarcliff Fire Road.
