Alpine Pedal Path

The Alpine Pedal Path is an easy, paved pathway along the north shore of Big Bear Lake. As the name suggests it is fantastic for bikers, but is also popular with hikers and joggers. Along the way you'll have fantastic views of the lake and Snow Summit Mountain.The path begins along Stanfield Cutoff Road. There is street parking around North Shores Elementary School. Once you've found parking, begin following the pathway as it heads west. You'll soon walk past the Carol Morrison East Boat Ramp, a popular area for boaters and fishermen looking to get out on the water.The Alpine Pedal Path continues alongside the shores of Big Bear Lake, offering great views of the south shore mountains. There are lots of informative plaques along the trail, including ones in a small meadow area. Did you know that this entire area actually used to be a meadow? Big Bear Lake was created in the mid 1880s as a dam was built to capture spring water and snowmelt to water crops.The trail then passes near two picnic areas, Juniper Point and Meadows Edge - both of which are fantastic areas to take a rest or picnic break. The path then meanders through the pine forest along the border of Serrano Campground before coming to an end just north of the Big Bear Solar Observatory. A short unpaved pathway continues on to a nice beach along the lake.
