Quake Lake is a great way to spend an hour if you are in or near West Yellowstone or Island Park. It is a lake that was created by a very large Earthquake which resulted in the Madison Slide in 1959. There is a large visitor center with some cool info. There is a nice hike to an overlook of the entire slide area. The views down the Madison are also beautiful as it heads toward Ennis, Montana. Once you have checked out the sights make sure to drive the length of the lake where you can still see the ghosts of the old forest now buried in water. This is a cool place to spend an hour or two and the drive to and from the lake is gorgeous. Its a cool place but I wouldn't plan a full day for it by any means.
