North Longs Peak Trail

This trail is infrequently used so you'll have the unique terrain and beautiful views mostly to yourself. The North Longs Peak Trail begins at an intersection with the Loch Vale Trail, directly east of the East Glacier Knob. Head east and almost immediately cross Glacier Creek over a high bridge. The first mile or so of this trail to the Boulder Brook Trail intersection offers wonderful views of Glacier Gorge, Flattop and Hallett Peak, the Mummy Range, and the entire valley. The forest thins as you climb a series of steep, long switchbacks. After reaching treeline, the trail steepens noticeably and the terrain becomes acres of jumbled rocks. After another mile and a half of more of the same, the North Longs Peak Trail ends at the intersection with the Longs Peak - Keyhole Route as it crosses the broad saddle of Granite Pass. The North Longs Peak Trail is convenient for climbs of Storm Peak, Mt. Lady Washington, and even Longs Peak itself if you want to avoid the traffic synonymous with the main Longs Peak - Keyhole Route and dont mind the extra mileage.
