Fording the river can be difficult to impossible depending on flow of the river.
Mountain bikes, pets and firearms are prohibited in the Park. This trail is closed to horses at the Park boundary.
An Olympic National Park permit is necessary past the Park boundary.

This trail wanders through old-growth forest and crosses the South Fork Skokomish River and other streams multiple times before reaching an old avalanche chute at around 1.8 miles. The trail then begins to climb up the canyon above the Skokomish River Valley. Upper Skokomish starts out quite gradually, but becomes much steeper near the end.
This trail receives yearly maintenance and is in good condition to the Park boundary. Campsites are available along the trail corridor - a flat area near Snowfield Creek makes an excellent campsite.
