Fisher Towers

No rating
Primitive dirt trail that is hard to see and follow at times. There are numerous stairs and even a short ladder to help you along this trail. Summer is hot but still doable early in the morning or later at night.

Description
Fisher Towers is an incredible place to hike and explore near the town of Moab. You will see very tall sandstone spires and towers and have opportunities to watch rock climbers climb on oddly shaped sculptures hundreds of feet in the air. Even though Fisher Towers is located near two popular national parks, you won't typically find too many other hikers in the area. Fisher Towers is located about a 40 minute drive north of Moab, Utah. You can see the towers all the way from Utah Highway State Route 128 - they truly are an incredible sight! You can see The Titan on the right side of the towers sticking up. There is a small campground right at the parking lot complete with pit style toilets. The Main Trail (South Trail) begins at a small parking lot and it winds up and down along the southern portions of the towers until it comes to The Titan. If you have some extra time, I highly recommend taking the East Trail to the overlook. The trail is somewhat tricky to follow in a few locations because the trail blends in well with the rest of the surroundings. Just try and follow the cairns the best you can. The first formation you'll come to is a famous rock climbing location, Ancient Art. The trail keeps going from here and you'll pass by Kingfisher, Cottontail Tower, Echo Tower, and The Oracle. Once you turn the last corner you will see the appropriately named Titan. Once at the base of The Titan we rested for a little bit and hiked back to the parking lot. There are lots of little side canyons to explore and you can keep going to the end of the trail and turn back to the parking lot when you're ready.
