Bodega Head Nature Trail

From the lower parking area, follow the path along the cliff high above the rugged shore below (there is a small beach right at the parking area, but otherwise, everything below is jagged rocks and high surf). Several people have fallen to their death as the ground recedes, so stay well back from the edge.As you head south you'll see Point Reyes in the distance, and about a quarter mile offshore is a rock generally covered with seals and you can hear better than you can see.Wildflowers are abundant, especially in late spring and early summer. CA poppies, lupine, aster, and iceplant are the most showy.There is a good chance to see gray whales between January and April, as well as herons, many bird species, and seals.As the trail curves away from the ocean, you get pleasant views of the town of Bodega Bay and can watch the fishing boats coming to and from work.
